Swedish Wooden Toys, Bard Graduate Center, stop-motion animations, 2015

art direction, photography, lighting, animation

These animations were created to accompany the exhibition Swedish Wooden Toys at Bard Graduate Center (BGC) Gallery. They were used in the gallery and as promotional items on social media.

From the BGC website: Swedish Wooden Toys represented the first in-depth study of the history of wooden playthings in Sweden from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century.

Toys are meant to be played with; they are supposed to be in motion. The toys on display in the exhibition were behind glass and still. By creating playful stop-motion animations, I was able to bring the toys to life and create movement in an otherwise static gallery space.
